12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 9/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a thin foamy dark tan head with poor retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, fudge, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with light smoke, char, tobacco, coconut, raisin, fig, cherry, date, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and maple/bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, fudge, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with light smoke, char, tobacco, coconut, raisin, fig, cherry, date, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, fudge, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, light smoke/char and roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and maple/bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter roast and bourbon/oak spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/slick, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is fairly well hidden; a small lingering warmth after the finish; a bit of barrel booziness, but not overwhelming. Overall this is an incredible imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and maple/bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Intensely rich and complex; awesome barrel presence and balance, without being overwhelmingly boozy, tannic, or drying. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bourbon, molasses, prune, and charred oak nose. Black viscous pour, thin beige head. Prune, chocolate, plum, raisin. Lesser bourbon notes on the margins. Full body, easy carbonation, hot. Rather sweet.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Opaque dark brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth and rich dark malts. Smooth vanilla and dark chocolate. Contrasting tangy bitterness and tangy dark fruits. Mild maple, well buried. Smooth semi dry finish. Rich and drinkable.

Bottle @ Vinoble. Pours Black with a creamy beige head and lacings. So soft and smooth. Velvet like. Good coffee, Roast, chocolate, vanilla and maple. True sipper, sweet of course and with some alcohol warmth - but just really me I think! Reminds me of KBS!

Bottle thanks to Randy. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, maple, dark chocolate, wood, smoke, ash. Thick body, chewy, roast, similar flavors to nose, nice barrel presence, boozy, nice smoke in finish, really enjoyed this.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Pitch black pour with a thin tan head. Notes of bourbon, lots of maple syrup, caramel, milk chocolate, dark cherry syrup and subtle roasted malts. A bit hot, probably due to the freshness, but still really great.
