This behemoth of a barleywine brings all the rich malt character you would expect, with a color and subtle roasty edge that make it surprisingly drinkable. The chocolate and licorice flavors help cut sweetness, with a finish of vanilla, nougat, and creme brulee from extended aging in oak.

Sample at GABF 10/07/2017, thanks to my bro for assistance with note-taking. Brown-black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing. Roast malt, oak, and chocolate aroma. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, anise, dark chocolate and oak. The finish is roasty with a malty and chocolatey aftertaste. Good beer all around.
