Sample at the tap room during the "3rd Annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party" on 12/17/2016. Jet black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a sparse outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and not as boozy as anticipated, with flavors of peaty malt, fudge, roasted coffee and subtle bourbon. The finish is roasty with a charred malt and coffee aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.
