(A collab with @powellbeer) A double-decocted modern take on a classic British Extra Special Bitter made with Maris Otter malt and East Kent Goldings hops and fermented cold with our lager yeast. Extremely sessionable with a balanced but prominent maltiness and bitterness.

Pale amber, slight haze. Medium head. The aroma is toasty, lightly fruity, a bit of mushroom in there. Fairly clean, which places all the emphasis on the malt…it’s complex enough with biscuity notes and a hint of toastiness to hold up to the challenge. Light orangey note. Okay the only thing for me is EKG…a great hop but not over here; we get the shittiest 10% of them. This beer needed some northdown, bramling or challenger, or fuck it one of the new ones even I don’t know shit all about. They started to make something unique then left a real opportunity on the table.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazy dull amber orange with a small white head. Aroma has some crisp grassy hops, and subtle English bready malt. Flavour is more like a pils than ESB, with bitter grassy hops, toasted bready malt, and a light spiciness to it. Bright, crisp, biting, and well-hopped. Nice stuff.

6oz pour at the brewery. Pours almost clear copper with a white head. Grassy and crisp cracker malts on the nose. Flavour has herbal grass, nice bite, crisp malts, malts are a touch darker than a regular pilsner. Very nice.
