Sojourn is an American stout that pours jet black with hints of amber when held to the light. A complex malt bill carries notes of dark roast coffee and chocolate caramels. Magnum and Centennial hops tame the sweetness and blend with the toasty qualities, providing notes of dried citrus peel and earthy pine. This beer brings us back to the early days of our infatuation with the craft. The American Stout is a cornerstone of style and is well worth revisiting time and time again. Cheers!

Half pour on tap in Tewksbury. Opaque black with decent head, good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is strong sweet and roasted malts, molasses, lactose, light earth. Taste is strong bittersweet roasted malts, a bit of char, toffee, baker’s chocolate, lactose. Frothy texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste with lingering roasted bitterness. Good milk stout.

Charlton draught, 5/7/25.
As pictured.
Moderate roast providing coffee, dark chocolate and licorice. Hint of pine from hop but it's not overdone. Clean with light base malt adding a caramel-like character.
Expansive carbonation propelling dark fruit, dark chocolate and mild, piney hop throughout the palate. Medium-light bodied, though I wouldn't call it thin. Clean, flavorful, American Stout, indeed.

Pours a deep, dark brown, with mid-sized tan head. Aroma is burnt toast, roasted grain, bitter chocolate. Flavors follow. Mouthfeel seems a touch thin (this seems more like a porter than a stout, honestly).
