Bomber. Pours a dark reddish brown with some nice red highlights and a thin and ephemeral tan head that has died to a thin film with a few larger bubbles. Aromas are malty and sweet; a nice mix of brown sugar, dates, and a bit of chocolate over roasty malt. Flavor is pretty much in line with this... with the addition of a little bit of old or stale coffee. This is pleasant enough, but fails to have much of a pop to it that helps it find a clear direction.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a nearly opaque dark brown-amber color with a medium thin and foamy beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and a bit of coffee. Medium, dry body with a nic roasty character of malt and coffee. Mildly spiced hops are present too. The finish is clean crystal malt with a roasty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
