Super light straw coloured body that's almost white, with a deep haze and light raw honey glow with some light orange tints coming out, all with a one to two centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a while. Aroma of citrus, resin, light pine, alcohol and a hint of lactose and candy sugar - quite strong in both hop bitterness and sweetness in the nose at the end. Medium-bodied; Rich malty bite at first with a deep citrusey and piney bitterness showing from the hops that sort of peters out and starts showing a nice sweetness from fructose/caster sugar notes, but also has a strong malt backbone that is a bit grainy towards the end. Aftertaste shows a pleasant bitterness from all the hops with a grassy, resinous and perfumey character, but the malt and sweetness show through everything and provide more than balance - they define the beer - without juice or even citrus being dominant here.Overall, a decent IPA that looks and smells nice, but is a bit too muted to be considered good or worth going out for - especially since it misses the mark for the style (New England), aside from the look - which it nails. Still nice to try this one locally of course, but not worth getting any more of this one. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 24-July-2020 for US$5,30 sampled at my house here in Washington on 15-August-2020. 'Boots Tap Only' (on bottom of can), Canned: 24-June-2020.
