Appearance - 10 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 10 | Overall - 9
Ever so slightly hazy pure golden and even straw coloured body with a large four to five centimetre tall just off-white head that has a bunch of very nice small bubbles and stays afloat for a while. Aroma of grass, light lemon and grapefruit zest, some cleanser and a good balance of malt backbone and noticeable alcohol peeking around the edges. Full-bodied; Very rich, super syrupy sweetness at first with pure orange juice, honey, resin, pineapple and even mango juice noticeable here, with a huge malt backbone, some grassiness and rather subdued alpha acid bitterness, but the sweetness and rich body stand out the most at the end. Aftertaste is super pungent, yet remarkably drinkable, probably because the alcohol warmth and astringency is held at bay. The alcohol is noticeable, but in a sweet, resinous and rich way, without any real bitterness at all - just deep fruit notes and some grass with a hint of flowers. Overall, a very nice beer that almost shows plainly as an American Strong, due to how sweet, smooth and high alcohol this is, but that is due to the right recipe and right hop choices! An excellent option throughout, perhaps one of my favourite beers from the brewery - at least recently, perhaps ever! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 24-July-2020 for US$6,38 sampled at my house here in Washington on 10-August-2020.
