90% clear deep amber and copper coloured body with a ridiculously thick and overflowing seven to eight centimetre tall off-white head that seemingly activates when the top is opened, but fades fairly quickly and leaves an ugly and unassuming off-white lace on top. Aroma of soured and tart oak, grass, hay, light brett and a dash of flowers, all with a hint of vinegar and even some brine here - this is funky all the way around. Medium-bodied; Strong deep dry herbal and grassy notes at first with a relatively large floral and perfumey quality that shows some soured funk from fruits and the malts without much else aside from a subdued sweetness and briney quality that almost makes this more of an imperial-ish gose than a sour. Aftertaste is dry, herbal, grassy, soured, tart and funky with the yeast notes and odd flavours dominating, more than even any sort of soured or tart component. Overall, a very odd beer that shows to be way more of a [strong] gose than a pure 'sour', with the yeast, brine and malt backbone more than a typical soured beer, especially one with fruit so forward. Decent enough to try, but perhaps, because I'm not such a local, while the palate wasn't anything to try to chase this one at least offered some interesting flavours that blurs the line on some perceived flavours and styles. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet Wine Cellars in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-December-2019 for US$4,19 sampled at my house here in Washington on 07-June-2020.
