Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7
Deep hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan head that stays afloat nicely. Aroma of citrus, grass, pine (so rare now-a-days!), flowers, dry malt and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal bite up front with some grapefruit and light citrus characteristics that show more of a hop character from the Pacific NorthWest that leaves a lot of bitterness near the end, with a faint sweetness as well and a dash of alcohol warmth, too. Aftertaste shows the dry and herbal quality with some light hop bitterness, a dash of hay, yeast and some soft citrusey sweetness that hits the right notes, just sudbdued a bit. Overall, a nice enough East Coast IPA with some grassy, piney and very herbal IPA qualities with a touch of citrus and sugars, but with a good malt balance throughout. Nice to try and great to celebrate the Nationals 2019 Championship...but it would be even better with REAL baseball now, in Spring 2020! I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 21-May-2020 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 28-May-2020.
