Dark and rich and entrancing. This stout is typically opaque with molasses, mocha and a hint of dark coffee. The hops are vivaciously electrifying adding dark fruits and wildflowers.

Cask at Redwillow, Macclesfield Unforunately this was served way too cold, and didn’t warm up properly in the 30 minutes I took to drink it – so may require a rerate. Anyway, pours jet black with a small beige head. Nose is mainly milky coffee. In the mouth the texture is a bit watery. Flavour is mainly liquorice, dark fruits and blackcurrant. Also toffee humbug sweets and some sweet malts. Finish is watery with liquorice. Quite nice – bur Salopian have done better than this.
