Tap @ Mikkeller Tokyo. Pours nice deep brown, pretty much black, with some brown foam on the top. Nose is deep, lots of chocolate, coffee and a bit of roast. Nice balanced nose, not too sweet, not tart, just pure chocolate and cocoa dust plus spices. Tastes also super decent, heavy body, nothing sticky or too sweet - but not dry and only bitter either. Fulfilling in terms of chocolate, coca and toffee character., lightly smoky Finish turned spicier and delivered some chilli heat. Yummy! Surprisingly well brewed, enjoyed this one a lot.

Tap at the HCMC brewpub. Poured almost black with little life. The aroma is roasty malt, chocolate, coffee, light vanilla, light boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a smooth, rich, warm alcoholic, roasty, sweet chocolate palate. Full to medium bodied with flat carbonation. The 13% alcohol is very obvious and plays a big part in the flavour profile of the beer, something that I’m not so keen on. Beers that burn are not great beers in my book. Didn’t really get that spices at all.

A deep dark imperial stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light vanilla, coffee crisp, cinnamon, chili, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of cinnamon, chili, coffee grind, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. Mole like. On tap at brewery. 8-4-8-4-15
