Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, fairly small, single centimetre tall off-white and tan head that fades pretty quickly above the 80 per cent opaque body. Aroma of rich maple syrup, molasses, roasted malts, oatmeal, raspberries, blueberries, a dash of cream, lactose, light bread and yeasts with some deep earthiness and nutty flavours, but the sweetness reigns supreme at the end of the nose, especially. Medium-bodied; Very rich malts show at first with a lot of nuttiness, rustic earthy qualities, bunches of oats, roasted grain and especially lactose with a lot of cream, vanilla and sweetness, especially at the end. Aftertaste is rich and enjoyable with a great balance of rich and earthy, nutty flavours with a lot of bitterness, but also some light tartness and fruity flavours and more sweetness, but this shows well throughout. Overall, a very nice and pretty elegant beer with tart, fruity notes, but more bitterness, rustic malts and earth with sweetness and some creaminess on the end - a bit of everything! I sampled this sixteen ounce pint-sized can, purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 28-March-2021 for US$4,49 sampled at my house here on the other side of the country on 24-August-2022 in Washington.
