Deep dark amber and light brown coloured body with a nice, but very fast-fading two centimetre tall off-white and even tan head that goes away completely after a few seconds. Aroma of rich caramelised sugars, lightly toasted malts with some graininess and a dry, nutty quality with some light hops here and some small sugars. Light to Medium-bodied; Relatively strong toasted grain and nutty flavours show at first with a big earthiness and a robust dry malty and metallic like flavour with some relatively subdued caramelised sugars and toffee notes a bit further back and a light dose of fruits towards the end that shows some plums, apricots and pears. Aftertaste is very nutty, earthy, grainy, toffee-y and showing a good level of malts here with still a relative easy-drinking finish and not many pungent or robust flavours here that make this hard to get down. Overall, a nice and crisp beer with a lot of flavour and a smooth finish without much alcohol or pungency, but some solid complexity and pungency - about what you expect for the style, but unfornately this style isn't made much anymore. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Costco in Edison, New Jersey on 21-December-2021 for US$2,75 sampled at my house here in Washington on 14-June-2022.
