This vibrant Saison pours a rich pinkish magenta from hefty doses of hibiscus flowers. Let this refreshing beer coax your palate with floral notes of cranberry & grapefruit and a clean dry finish.

Ever so slightly hazy pink and light red coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall off-white and light tan head on top, but no lacing or long-lasting head is here at all. Aroma of soft wheat, a light touch of yeast and bread, a hint of flowers and earthiness and a more noticeable grassy and herbal characteristic, but not much at all here - no real sweetness and definitely no tart or soured elements that you'd usually get from the inclusion of the tropical flower. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal notes show at first with a pronounced bready, yeastie flavour and some dough as well with a light touch of wheat on the end and a bit of a soft perfumey hop characteristic, but again no real hibiscus flavours, sour or otherwise. Aftertaste is very mild here with more of a nuance from the yeast and bread than anything else, but the grassy and light malt components do come out here, too. Overall, a very underwhelming beer and even though I knew the alcohol was light, I thought that would be a good thing - for this case, it just meant that the entire beer was mild without any real flavours, no complexity and seemingly no idea of what they wanted to produce from this beer - it wasn't dry or barnyardie like a saison and it didn't really have any hibiscus notes at all, perhaps aside from the red colour. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Costco in Edison, New Jersey on 21-December-2021 for US$2,75 sampled at my house here in Washington on 31-May-2022.
