Deep dark brown coloured body with a lighter brown glow towards the bottom and a very thin, almost tan head. Aroma of light yeast, a dash of bread and some chocolate along with a tiny bit of coffee and a lot of earthiness, but nothing really 'scotch' here. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and nutty flavours dominate here with a lot of peanut and grainy qualities and a dash of the chocolate noticeable, but very little else, especially in terms of complexity. Aftertaste shows a touch of the sweetness coming through the cracks, mainly from vanilla and nuts, but some fruitiness does come out along with a bit of the chocolate, but that seems to add more bitterness than sweetness. Overall, a decent beer at best, but this is perhaps and imposter for a reason and should be avoided if you really want the complexity or characteristics of a real scotch. I sampled this pour on draught at Saugatuck Brewing Company in Saugatuck, Michigan with my one daughter when she wasn't even three yet, sampled on 10-September-2015.
