Super hazy straw yellow coloured body with a thinnish, very soda-like tan and off-white head that fades fast and leaves an ugly lace on the sides and only islands of head above the ninety five per cent opaque raw honey glowing body. Aroma of fresh coconut, strong pineapple, guava, dry malts, a lot of sugars and orange juice and some dry grassy notes with a little yeast and bread noticeable, too. Medium-bodied; Very rich malt and dry wheatie notes show at first, with a big kick of the fruits, especially coconut and pineapple with some orange notes as well and even some grapefruit peel, but some alpha acids and bitterness here as well, showing this as a real IPA and not just a fruit beer, but the lactose too is showing and some herbal qualities at the end. Aftertaste is clean, with some dry malt notes of wheat and grass, but of course the fruits - especially the coconut and pineapple remain pungent and deep, in a good way, with a pleasant balance of bitterness and sweetness. Overall, a great example of how this style is 'real' and how alpha acids and bitterness can co-exist with fruits and sugars to make it an IPA at first and flavoured, secondly. Great to sample this one fresh (just five days past 'Best By' date) from the recent trip and only three weeks after purchase - get it if you can still find it and drink it right away - it's great! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Broughton Street Liqour in Savannah, Georgia on 30-December-2021 for US$4,99, with a 'Best By' date of 16-January-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-January-2022.
