Appearance - 10 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5
Very hazy deep copper and bronze coloured body with a super thick, slow dying rich tan head and a good amount of large bubbles still popping on top, all above the murky ninety per cent opaque body. Aroma of pine, grass, flowers, hay, alcohol, earth and a good deal of both resin and stone fruit sugars here (a lot) and some astringent metallic notes towards the end. Full-bodied; Very rich malty body dominates with a very deep grassy and floral bite along with a pungent sweetness of honey, resin, syrup and stone fruits, but the deep alcohol and astringency and bitterness from the hops runs rampant here. Aftertaste is rich, super bitter, pungent of malt, hops, alcohol and sugars, all with a lot of flavours that are all relatively straight-forward, but super rich and pungent and ends fairly sweet. Overall, a nice rich beer across the board, especially with the hops and alpha acid bitterness with the stone fruits, resin, rich malt and deep alcohol in the end - strong throughout and showing nicely, but very deep. Nice to try this one locally! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 09-July-2021 for US$2,99, canned on 31-May-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 31-August-2021.
