bottled: 22-December-2017 // purchased: 29-March-2019 // sampled: 17-September-2022 Super dark brown coloured body with a thinnish off-white head, only a centimetre or so tall, but the rich brown body is about 80 per cent opaque and not showing any movement, just an oily cap on top. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, rich bourbony and cedar, woodsie notes with a lot of molasses and sugars here, but the boozy alcohol scents perhaps are the strongest with the rich malts right behind. Medium to barely Full-bodied; A touch thinner than expected, but that could be due to the age here, but the oats and roasted malts are strong, but provide a good backbone for the plentiful sugars that come right afterwards with a lot of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and boozy notes that show more bourbon than gin. Aftertaste is fairly well-balanced, especially for the style, but the malts and alcohol hit well and deep with an enjoyable rich pungency of sugars from molasses, brown sugar, figs, dates and pure caster sugar that are very strong and help balance out the alcohol here. Overall, a pretty nice, and relatively surprising beer to me - this wasn't as strong/boozy as I was expecting (at least the taste, i'm sure the alcohol was really there) and the sugars and malt helped make this much more drinkable than I was expecting and the body, while thin, was nice and supportive to all the rich flavours that followed soon afterwards. Nice to sample, especially after a long run, making this a deserved beer for the time! I sampled this 37,5 bottle, bottled on 22-December-2017, purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 29-March-2019 for US$11,46 and sampled at my house on 17-September-2022.

Tap at EBF, Boston. Color is dark brown with very small white head. Aromas and flavors: Dryness, gin, some chocolate and malts. Gin works pretty well in this one.
