Dark brown coloured body with a thin tan head. Aroma of prunes, plums, grain, alcohol and a dose of dry earthy notes with malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Deep earthy flavour at first that is dry and slightly bready with some yeast elements and a touch of sweetness from the prunes and plums with grain noticeable at the end. Aftertaste shows some peaty flavours, a lot of the earthy malts and a good dose of the dry, almost oaky flavours that show through that show an 'old' character along with some very light sweetness, that seems to originate from raisins this time, but also a light dash of molasses is noticeable. Overall, a nice and relatively complex beer with a nice yeast profile, some subtle dryness and more of an enjoyable complexity that is typical with Belgian beers, but great to find at this price point! I sampled this stubby, 33 cL bottle given to me by a coworker on 21-September-2017 purchased from Lidl in Manassas, Virginia a few days earlier, sampled at home in Washington on 18-January-2018 - Thanks Tom!
