(Can) Pours black with thin medium brown head. Big complex aroma - burnt toast and maple syrup, with notes of coffee, pipe tobacco smoke. Full bodied, sticky with plenty of fine creamy carbonation. The taste is full on and not for the faint-hearted. It starts off sweet and maple syrupy. This is pretty intense and it’s hard to pinpoint other flavours - maybe raisins, coffee and vanilla. This sweet foretaste steadily transforms to an intense bitter finish and aftertaste. It’s a burnt sugar / toast bitterness with some coffee and wood notes. In the mid palate and the start of the finish there’s some port notes and the only hint of the 12% alcohol. Very interesting, but a bit intense for me.

330mL can, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is loaded with maple syrup upfront, followed by light vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is wonderfully rich, with lots of maple syrup without it being sweetened, medium roasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. Lots of maple syrup upfront, with a medium roasted palate. Excellent.

Bottle. Deep brown/black. It's maple up the wazoo. Very sweet, but somehow it works very very well.

pitch black color. Massively sweet nose with tons of maple, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Full body sweet mouth with tons of maple, low carbonation, but of course I am looking for a bit of burn with oak, bourbon etc that also balances out the beer. Honestly I am becoming less and less enthusiastic about maple beer that aren’t in oak and bourbon. Still if you compare to that topling Goliath maple imp stout, I’d take this. Lovely last maple and dark chocolate finish. Had a second time much warmer and loved it more. Wow.

In my head I see this as an Australian version of CBS (which I’ve yet to try), thanks to my buddy Jeremy (mrjez on RB I believe) for hooking me up with this. Big as all hell maple syrup aroma. Super maple dark sugar flavor on a medium light body, surprisingly dry. Insane aroma and super sweet maple. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Good Beer Company, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy, very short-lived tan head. The aroma is sweet roasty malt, big sweet maple syrup, aniseed floral, coffee, chocolate, liquorice. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a smooth, rich oily sweet roast malt, liquorice hop bitter palate and an oily mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle 330ml. Black with beige, small head. Aroma is rich of chocolate, pralines and of course maple syrup which is really intense. Chocolate in liquid that's what I can say about the taste. Additionally small vanilla hint give us great flavor. Beer is medium to full body, oily, smooth with completely hidden alcohol and each sip give you the pleasure. One thing what I could complain is too big saturation, not a big deal but disturbs a bit.

Taster at GABS Auckland 2017. Pours black. Just boozy maple syrup. So much maple syrup. Maybe a little vanilla, certainly a little alcohol kick, a touch of chocolate if I try hard. Mostly just maple syrup though.
