This is where it all began... a garage in New Zealand, some local hops, a small cobbled together kit and against all odds an icon was born. Those same hops, Nelson Sauvin and Motueka are still present and correct in this, our love letter to the land of the long white cloud. NZ hops are characterised by their delicate citrus, fruit and floral notes, particularly the gooseberry, peach and white wine flavours of Nelson Sauvin. To match this we use a light malt bill with a decent amount of oats and wheat to create texture and mouthfeel. It’s the sort of beer that will make you want to abscond to the shores of the South Island never to return.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Light gold, pale and clear with a ring of white head around the sides. Some citrus, mango and some orchard fruit in the aroma, but the smell is all about the sticky resin, which comes through in spades. Taste is pretty sweet thanks to the sugary sweet resinous notes, although there’s a lot of overripe tropical fruit as well. Simple but bags of flavour and it all hangs together quite well.

Draught @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, grass, tropical fruit, light citrus. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, malt, little grain, tropical fruit, mild citrus. Medium body, average carbonation, light bitter finish. 130117

Bottle, 5.6%. Clear golden with small white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, hop, spicy and a little citrus. Flavour is malt, caramel, hop, fruit, spicy, little grapefruit, medium sweet and medium bitter.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with small to average, frothy, rapidly diminishing, white head. Fruity and spicy, hoppy aroma, notes of hay, wet straw, widely disguised hints of mandarine and grapes. Taste is tropical fruity hoppy, hints of mango, mandarine; less fruity in the finish, a mineral touch and hints of white bread crust come in. Gentle, prickling carbo, nevertheless insipid character somehow.

Bottled@Public Corner, Vaasa. Hazy yellow colour wih a small white head. Aroma is grains, some floral and fruity notes as well as some herbal and parfumed notes. Flavour is grainy, some bready and mild citrusy notes.

Caña en el Lupulo (prueba. R145). 05..12..2016 Color amarillento con espuma blanca Aromas y sabores maltosos y cereales trigo con herbaceos frescos verdes algo citricos. Final amargo seco que no está nada mal y es duradero. Cuerpo ligero fácil de beber. Refrescante y amarga. No está nada mal.
