Deep off white foamy head stayed on a rust coloured still body. Herbaceous & berry aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the tongue with a lively back & sticky aft. Red berries, Parma violets, syrup & jam tastes with a sweet fruity finish. Deece.

Pours a slightly hazy deep amber colour and an off white head with a thin layer retention. Aroma's are fruity, slightly vegetal, a hint of smoke and caramel. Retronasal it's slightly sweet, a bit fruity and here too some smoke or tar. Flavour is above moderate sweet, fruity. The sweetness actually comes a bit as a surprise. Light medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Just a hint of bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Kensington. Reddish amber with a large off-white head. Lots of caramel, with orange and tinned strawberry. Definitely sweet. Odd texture; a little slimy and glutinous, definitely reminiscent of overcooked rice. An odd one; like the flavour but not the mouthfeel. On balance it's the right side of ok.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium white head. Aroma is spicy, rice, yeasty, berries. Taste is malty, sweet, ricy, spicy.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Cloudy orange amber colour with small off white head which soon fades. Aroma is fruity, quite herbal with a bit of funk too. Bit of chocolate there too, but sweet not rich, and some bubblegum. Bit of booze too. Taste is pretty nice, boiled sweets, bubblegum again, some fruity tartness, orange, mango maybe, maybe touch of spice in there too. Quite distinctive. Taste isn't strong, but quite subtle, quite saison-like. Just a touch of booze, but all in all it hides the 7% well. I always find Hitachino Nest beers very easy to drink.

Bottle. Color: Reddish amber, white head. Aroma: Malty with herbal and spicy hints, Light flowery hints. Taste: Rice, floral and herbal notes. Sweetish notes of flowers and strawberry. Moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium to above medium body, just below average carbonation. Mild mouthfeel. Something different than usual, nice to taste this rice beer, but no favorite for me.

Hitachino Nest Red Rice 赤米, Fläschchen von Getränkefeinkost, MD-Buckau. - Mehr rot als braun, gut trüb. - Nase weich hefig, leicht toastmalzig mit süßer Erdbeere und schöner Gewürznote, exotischer als Zimt aber ähnlich gefällig, exotisch und doch anheimelnd. - Antrunk hefeweich mit überraschend intensiver Erdbeernote und beträchtlicher weicher Süße. Dezente reife Frucht, Preiselbeere, etwas Zimt. Wenig herb, ein Hauch von Zitronenschale. Mild rezent, vollmundig, weich; der Alkohol ist gut eingebettet. Im Abgang milde, ganz zart holzige Herbe. - Etwas enttäuschend, daß das seltene japanische Bier so sehr an Erdbeermilch erinnert, davon abgesehen aber sehr nett, rund, füllig und süffig. (9.8.2019.)
