Lurking as a predator in murky waters, this beer will come and get you. A barley wine, strictly on malt, intense like a slice of fresh bread. Tinted green by squid ink, salted with fish sauce salt, topped up with a pair of dried seahorses - known for their magical powers. A beer not encountered before, and maybe you wish you never met it...

Tap at the Hanoi brewpub. Poured a clear reddish mahogany colour with a thin off white head. The aroma is dry roasty malt, toffee, caramel, molasses, sweet sweaty socks. The flavour is moderate sweet with a big toffee caramel malt, boozy liquorice alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with flat carbonation. Not keen on this at all. Way too alcoholic and far too reminiscent of the dreadful malt liquors we see in night shops throughout South East Asia. Brewed with fish? Maybe that's what I could smell. Buried underground for 10 years no doubt.

A dark reddish copper brown barley wine with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, treacle, light vanilla, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with loads of miso notes, light vanilla, light licorice, pleasing. On tap at 100 Garden location .

On tap at Furbrew, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel malt, dark fruits and toffee. Flavour is decadent, with lots of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, brown sugar and alcohol. Oily, silky palate. If I had known the ingredients in this before ordering, I wouldn't have ordered (#nonvegan), but I can't deny it's an excellent beer.
