A porter brewed with Shropshire prune damsons, delivering on provenance and intense flavour. Aroma of berries, sweet, juicy plums and roast malt sweetness. Rich, treacly, roasted malt taste with a smooth chocolatey finish. Fruity with a touch of spice for a warming, smooth pint.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Light brownish purple, thin looking with a small beige/tan head. Plummy aroma, some dry bread malts. Sweet taste, some stone fruit syrup, light lashings of white pepper. Bit of sourness in the finish. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Simple and a bit artificial but pretty good.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small cream head and good lacing. There’s dark fruits and roasted malts in the aroma. In the mouth it hovers between bitter and sweet with dark fruits very prominent in the flavour. There’s a creamy texture with roasted malts, raspberries and plums with hints of chocolate and berry fruits coming later. A little spiciness in the finish. This is rather nice – the plums are very evident but don’t overwhelm.
