At 8.0%, this strong bier is a dark mahogany with a tall tan foam. Toffee-like, strong malty aromas of brown sugar and molasses. It goes through an enhanced double decoction to create deep malt flavors without a cloying sweetness, and a herbal, noble-like bitterness from the German Perle hops—balanced complexity in a full-body strong lager.

Brighton draught, 4/5/23. Garnet. Clear. Beige head is small, well-retained. Heavily fruity melanoidins with licorice-tinged cola and a solid layer of succulent caramel. Clean, seemingly crisp on the finish. No booze. Soft, very malty, with quick bitterness inserting itself amongst bready, peppery notes and light chocolate and caramel. Clean, malty, good attenuation. A bit bready, maybe a touch more specialty malt than needed. Raisins, oranges, caramel, vanilla lingering. Still achieves a pretty good balance while remaining quite malty.
