Portland IPA has been brewed in time for summer. It's home to heaps of New World hops with the role call of American and Australian varieties in this first batch featuring the fruity Topaz, Centennial and Citra with Cascade used for dry hopping late on. According to venue manager and resident beer lover Joe Baily, they'll be mixing up the recipe with each subsequent brew, with this first one described as "very tasty", with "rich malt sweetness and a punch of hop bitterness and fruity aromas".

Pint on tap at Portland Hotel, Melbourne. Nose of funky fruit, earth and a little malt. Cloudy amber beer with thin sticky head which laces well. Clean, light and bitter in the mouth. Sharply bitter, herby finish. Lingering bitterness with light malt background. Solid IPA
Enjoyable and cleansing.

Tap at James Squire at the Portland, Melbourne. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light grassy citrus. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a dry, crisp, fresh, malty, woody light peppermint hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.
