Tap at Slow Beer Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown with little life. The aroma is big hazelnut vanilla chocolate. The flavour is moderate sour, light sweet with a smooth, rich tart red berry fruit, light sweet chocolate palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation.

Pitch black with a tan head. The aroma is nutty with a spicy chocolate edge. A somewhat raspy carbonation assaults my tongue with a tasty honey nut chocolate flavor. Very nice in an aggressive way.

From a 750ml bottle on 1/4/2016. Exploded outof the bottle pouring close to black with a big dark, tan head. The nose is very nice, with milk chocolate, hazelnuts and coffee. Take a sip and some sharp roasted malt is the first that hits, followed by a massive, almost creamy sweetness - milk chocolate again, some caramel and a good dash of vanilla. There’s a hint of coffee and dark fruit in the mix too. The palate is super creamy but is spoiled a bit by being over-carbed. All up, it’s definitely a nice dessert beer, but it lacks a bit of subtlety for mine, and is probably just a bit too sweet. And at 28 bucks a pop, it doesn’t represent much in the way of value. Pretty bottle though.
