Bottle. Black with a tan head that coats the glass. Aroma of mocha, fudge, vanilla, blackberries, PX sherry. Low carbonation, very silky. Full bodied but not gloopy; certainly a slow drinker rather than a syrupy sipper. Sweet and fudgy with bitterness and spices - cardamon, vanilla, pepper - gripping just enough to lighten the load. Not all that much in the way of roasted flavours - they’re there, but very much integrated into the mix rather than the focus. Pleasant spirity waft at the end is really the only overt show of whisky. Sweetness is held in check a little better than the last version and the various elements are even more harmonious. Aroma of mocha, dark berries, whisky via sherry and vanilla. Very silky, low carbonation. Dark fudgy sweetness, berries, little wafts of whisky and vanilla, dries out subtly towards the end. Slightly spicy there too. Just leans a little sweet for me over a whole bottle, but the whisky flavours are very elegantly balanced with the beer. Food match: Noodles Romanoff.

Both on tap and in bottle. The best beer from Australia in 2014 for sure. Pours black as night. Luscious enveloping mouthfeel. Great vanilla, burnt caramel flavours, with peaty endnotes. Will age brilliantly I hope.
