Imperial Stout Brewed with Coffee
One of our most coveted Nietzschean narratives, Genealogy of Morals, inspires our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout of the same name. We present to you the opportunity to enjoy the non barrel-aged base beer, simply named Genealogy, brewed with malted wheat and locally-roasted coffee, then conditioned in stainless steel. Dark, rich and smooth, its complex flavors belie the singular vision with which we create it—echoing the work that inspires it.This is the the non barrel-aged version of Genealogy of Morals, conditioned in stainless steel. Bottle shared, massive thanks. Black with good sized light brown head. Sweet dark chocolate, dried red berries and strawberry, sweet coffee, light herbs, molasses, toffee, some weedy hops even, light minerals. Quite sweet with soft bitter finish. Full bodied with nice soft velvety feel and soft carbonation.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma has a moderate chocolate and roast note with some wheat. Moderately strong coffee note with a bit of a green pepper note. A light creamy, sugar note. Pours black with a moderately large, thick, dark tan to light mocha head that slowly recedes. Moderate lacing and medium legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with some creamy chocolate notes. Medium light roast with moderate coffee notes. Medium bitterness with a light astringency. Coffee has a definite green pepper note to it. Nice, lingering creaminess. Mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer but the green pepper note from the coffee isn?t a great thing. The bitterness is also a bit strong and there is a touch of astringency. The creaminess, lingering sugar and chocolate are nice though. Definitely not up to par for what I expect from Hill Farmstead.

Bottle in Winter Park with jcnielsen. Thanks MacBoost! Pure black appearance with a foamy, dark brown head. Rich, roasted chocolate, coffee, oats in the nose. Off dry. Moderate bitterness. Some boozy notes. Creamy, smooth coffee flavor. A touch acidic. Soft grains. Pretty good though I certainly prefer HF Saisons and IPAs over their darker beers.

Bottle shared @ final old style THT. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized quite creamy thick dark brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, heavy espresso and burnt malts, cocoa. Taste malts, roast lightly, again heavy espresso, heavy cocoa and cocoa bitter. Medium body, decent carbonation. Nice one.

500mL bottle, sent from yourilevesque (thanks a lot, Youri!), pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out shitloads of coffee upfront, with some roast and dry earthiness. Flavour is rich and robust, with loads of coffee upfront, some roast and a slight hint of sweetness. Wonderful depth to the coffee notes that elevate this. Excellent stuff.
