Oaked 1825 is Gulpeners verjaardagsbier. Het is een Belgisch blond, en dat is een dubbele knipoog. Naar 1825, toen Gulpen nog in betwist grondgebied lag, en flink Belgischgezind was, en naar de grote rol die Gulpener heeft gespeeld bij de introductie van (vooral Belgisch) speciaalbier in Nederland. Oaked 1825 is natuurlijk gebrouwen met lokale gerst en hop, en zelfs gelagerd op eikenhout van de houtzagerij verderop. Het is stevig (7,5%), stralend goudkleurig en sprankelend, passend bij een feest op je verjaardag.

Draught at the Wildeman, Amsterdam. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is dry oaky, boozy. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, oaky, hop bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at Bierproeflokaal in De Wildeman. Pours hazy dark blonde with a white foamy head. Lots of banana and cloves on the nose. Flavour has peaches, cloves, some herbal grassiness. Finish is a bit woody and attenuated. Not particularly good.

(Draft at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 21 Feb 2025) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with peaches, mixed fruit and white bread. Malty, fruity taste with notes of mixed fruit, peaches, bread, grass, hints of oak wood and a mild herbal bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Smooth and well balanced with a gentle woody touch. Nice one.
