Half-pint, well kept cask ale at Orange Tree. Shared with Finn. A bubbly fawn-coloured head leaving scattered lacing on the glass. Near black body. Caramel malty nose, slightly roasted. Dark malt-forward flavours of chocolate, caramel, and grassy hops. Smoothly roasted ending. Drinks very well. Nice. (Hereford 17.10.2022).

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy long-lasting light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry grassy nettle hop bitter, light grapefruit citrus palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. This la a black IPA if ever I saw one despite what it says on the pump clip.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - close to opaque black but with a brown edge to it. Nose - toffee, Dry roast, light charcoal. The very slightest hint of chocolate. Taste - again dominated by toffee and roast notes rather than chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good.

Aroma of soft dark malts, nice mellow roast, no burnt stuff, some dark fruits
Taste of soft dark malts, dark fruits, hint of cola, good mellow roast, soft dark chocolate, smooth malts, quite deep malts in this, really nice
Palate - Medium body, soft sweet, smooth texture. Finish as main flavour, mellow roast.
