Half-pint, well kept cask ale at Orange Tree. Shared with Finn. A bubbly fawn-coloured head leaving scattered lacing on the glass. Near black body. Caramel malty nose, slightly roasted. Dark malt-forward flavours of chocolate, caramel, and grassy hops. Smoothly roasted ending. Drinks very well. Nice. (Hereford 17.10.2022).

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy long-lasting light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry grassy nettle hop bitter, light grapefruit citrus palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. This la a black IPA if ever I saw one despite what it says on the pump clip.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Practically black with a small creamy off-white head. Low in stout character but has some, with a very mild sweetness.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - close to opaque black but with a brown edge to it. Nose - toffee, Dry roast, light charcoal. The very slightest hint of chocolate. Taste - again dominated by toffee and roast notes rather than chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good.
