At a tasting, many thanks, trickly oily pour, smallish creamy head, deep dark opaque black color, aroma of dark sour bread, vanila, and a whiff of alcohol, flavor of bittersweet chocolate, toasty notes, figs and dates coming through with a suprisingly pleasant acoholic warmth, quite sweet and heavy but not cloying, oily texture. Very nice and enjoyable, should be sipped very slowly.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Nose is extremely boozy, but also very complex aromas of chocolate, sweet licorice and dark, dried fruits. Rich, massive body, raisin syrup and dates, very oxidized and vinous. Actually feel less boozy when you drink it. Extreme, extravagant and over the top - and I really like it. 061216

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 10/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, cherry, prune, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light nuttiness/char, herbal, light pepper/pine, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Increasing booze presence in the nose as it warms. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, cherry, prune, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light nuttiness/char, herbal, light pepper/pine, and roast/smokey earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/piney hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, cherry, prune, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, char, herbal, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/astringent roast flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness; lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/slick, moderate sticky/chalky, and slightly syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with a small warmth lingering after the finish; with minimal booziness. Overall this is a amazing huge imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle poured into a snifter showing pitch black and syrupy with barely any head. The nose shows roasted malts and cacao with light notes of vanilla. The palate is medium bodied with an oily slick feel and very light carbonation. Flavors of dark chocolate, cacao, and very lightly roasted malts. A light lactose sweetness appears throughout. Further notes of vanilla also appear on the mid palate. A very mild alcohol spiciness for the alcohol percent. Finish shows dark chocolate bitterness with a little more cacao and roasted malt notes on the linger. This is extremely well done for a stout of such high percentage.
