330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Shared with Finn at his place, Stable, bubbly, tan coloured head. Spotty lacing on the glass. Pitch black body. Roasted bread, nuts and almond on the nose, mid-sweet and inviting. Comprehensive taste of coconuts, almond, bread, and chocolate malts. Mid-sweet, mid-dry, long-lived ending warming down the throat. A lovely full bodied sipper (Tromsø 08.02.2016).

33cl bottle. Pitch black pour, with a very tall espresso head that is slow to rise to the surface. The head gives way to a thin velvety lacing. Visually perfect. Smells of toasted coconut, vanilla beans, cocoa, dark cherries, sherry. Bitter-sweet taste, with toasted coconut up front (I wonder if this is the tonka?), followed by vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, wine barrel and macerated cherries. Smooth and velvety mouthfeel with minimal carbonation. Wow! --- Beer merged from original tick of 3 Bean Stout on 19 Aug 2016 at 21:23 - Score: 9

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Kjøpt sammen med Rune og delt på Nerstranda 8 Feb 16. Svart. Middels høyt mokkafarget skum. Litt lacing. Aroma av hasselnøtter. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Smaken kokosnøtter. Søt & behagelig. Skikkelig koseøl.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque blacl with a light brown head. Reaking of Tonka beans with their odd cinnamon-like character. Very rich body, lowish carbonation, heavy chocolate notes, a little fusty, sweet and not really bitter. Booze is very well hidden. It all really comes down to whether or not you like the Tonka - vanilla and coconut is more subtle. 280116

Bottle from the Garvie dregs-run Pours black with a thin tan head. Strong marzipan, almond, Christmas cake aromas. Taste is similar, quite over-powering. Some coffee and fruit notes in the (warming) finish.

330ml bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of cocoa, roasty malts, licorice, coffee, coconut, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is smooth, slightly sweetish and slick with massive amounts of cocoa, coconut, vanilla and hints of syrup and cinnamon. Finish is sweetish, really smooth and creamy with some chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, spices and coffee. Really smooth and creamy. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Tasty and dangerously drinkable. Impressive stuff.

Bottle, at Ølfestivalen, Nærbø. A more or less pitch black beer, topped by a small light beige head. Lovely roasted aroma with tonka beans, vanilla hints, chocolate and a faint cocoa touch. It’s rathe sweet on the palate, full-bodied and mellow, with a nice warmth that isn’t pushing at all. Some licorice hints towards the finish, along with roasted malts, tonka, some vanilla, cocoa and dark chocolate. Everlasting finish. A really lovely imp stout, at least if you like tonka, but who doesn’t. 151017
