Bottle, at Ølfestivalen, Nærbø. A more or less pitch black beer, topped by a small light beige head. Lovely roasted aroma with tonka beans, vanilla hints, chocolate and a faint cocoa touch. It’s rathe sweet on the palate, full-bodied and mellow, with a nice warmth that isn’t pushing at all. Some licorice hints towards the finish, along with roasted malts, tonka, some vanilla, cocoa and dark chocolate. Everlasting finish. A really lovely imp stout, at least if you like tonka, but who doesn’t. 151017

Bottle 0.33l at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour is black with very small brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Vanilla, chocolate, some coffee and roasted malts. Very soft.

Bottle at home from Biervana, 27th December 15. Pours black, slick, with a slight tan head. Aroma is complex, liquorice, leather, coffee, coco. Taste is full and rich, palate like velvet. Plenty of liquorice, slight vanilla, chocolate, great bitterness, and never too sweet, the perfumey aroma and taste of the beans make this very interesting. Fantastic Impy

Bottle from Beer Gonzo webshop, Earlsdon, Coventry, consumed at Cliff House Campsite, Dunwich, Suffolk on Friday ’Christmas Day’ 25th December 2015 Today I have had my three favourite beers of the year, Stone Enjoy By, Buxton Yellow Belly and now this, and this is brilliant. Ok so this was a late, late contender but it made and eventually topped the list, it is probably going to be close to, or at the top of my overall list, it’s that good. This is utterly, utterly fabulous wow I love this, reminds me a lot of the Magic Rock Bearded Lady Dessert Edition but it betters that, though Loz who also thinks it is stunning remains to be convinced on whether this is better than that beer. Thick in the mouth, this is so, so smooth and warming it’s like wrapping oneself in a warm duvet, unbelievable, lots and lots of vanilla and coconut yep lots of coconut, btw what the flying fuck is a Tonka bean Wonderful thickness but it is silky smooth, lovely mouthfeel, yes it’s a bit boozy but it’s good for it. Sweet with chocolate and chocolate bourbon biscuits, waves of top notch vanilla ice cream, it’s amazing. A9 A5 T10 P5 Ov19 4.8

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is huge vanilla, chocolate, coconut, taste is sweet, creamy, chocolate, vanilla, coffee.

330ml bottle. Pours black with good tan head. Marzipan / vanilla icing aroma. Taste is sumptuously smooth with intense rich dark chocolate, coffee, sweet caramel and vanilla. This is something else. Incredible with a taste that doesn’t let up from beginning to end.

Bottle at Øst, Stavanger. Pours black with small brown head. Aroma of strawberries, some alcohol, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, coconut. Some sweetness, umami. A little astringent, but with smooth mouth feel.Update, batch #2 on tap @ Øst, Stavanger: Still a lot of coconut and coffee, but in addition quite some raisins, port and acetone in the aroma, and very sweet taste with bitter finish. Maybe still too fresh, but I did like the first batch better.

Bottle. Pours pitch black, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is sweet fruity banana cake and coockie dough with cloves, ginger and spices, as well as dark roasted malts with bread, chocolate, coffee and notes of wood, tobacco and liquorice. Full, creamy body, with very soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet burned malts with coffee, cocoa and lactose, as well as tobacco, dark fruits, wood and peppery notes. Lingering sweet malty finish. Rather strange, very drinkable and really enjoyable.
