Short-lived thick cream head over viscous dark amber beer, appearing black. Ureum (and seriously so), sweet-ish, smelling of strange additions. Liquorice, and then, tarragon² - is it added or are this the tonka beans? Vanilla, bit creamy (Anglaise). Very thick, viscous MF, rich, with medium carbonation. Not bad. The additions give a strange flavour, which - to me - appears as tarragon. 6/4/7/415

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with limited brown foam, very fine. Aroma is cocoa beans and cinnamon, very interesting. Body is fairly dense, but surprisingly light for a 13-degree beer. Taste is sweet and spiced. Finish is long, sweet and spicy again.

(Draught at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 25 Nov 2017) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, cacao, coffee, caramel, vanilla and a touch of cinnamon. Malty, roasted taste with notes of cacao, vanilla, coffee, cinnamon, ginger and a balanced cacao bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made, with lots of chocolate and vanilla. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Excellent beer!

Pours black from the bottle Virtually no head and what there is soon fades. Aroma. This is undoubtedly the beer’s strength. A heady mix of vanilla and spice greets the nose. The unusual spice flavors reminded me of a Christmas cake and pumpkin pie all in one. No doubt the tonka beans, which is something that’s new to me. Truly a dessert beer. Taste is sweet full of raisins, spice and vanilla. No trace of the 13% ABV. Body is heavy, thick and syrupy. This exceeded my expectations in a positive way. Excellent.

[2018 rating, probably lervig/way version] 7,3,8,3,16 pitch dark small offwh head aroma is spicy brow cackes. flavor is beowncaces roasted malts [2022 or 2023 version rated mar. 2023] as Lervig 3 Bean Stout. aroma of tonga beans, roasted malts, brown sugar or syrup, brown cake spices. 7 3 Flavor is quite strong spicy, i think tonga beans dominated but could be bitter brown cake spices also, end bitterness also spicy, fainter notes of brown sugar and syrup. The spicy or tonga flavor dominates and creates a herbal bitter imp stout that tastes a lot different than your normally more roasted malty imp stout. Surely tastes like something you need to or might get used to, right now I think too spicy/herbal. But this flavor could grow on me i think. 7 3 16 I'll let the original rating stay

Bottle, BBE 12-01-27. Appearance- only black, opaque, a ring of tan bubbles but otherwise no head. Aroma- rich dark chocolate, liqueur chocolate, espresso coffee, fudge cake, vanilla hints, leather, smoky traces, toast malt. Taste- rich chocolate cake, dark fruits, treacle toffee, liquorice, vanilla, rich dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, roast malt, caramel brownie, hints of cinnamon, cocoa powder. Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Very tasty.

A black and viscose beer, a brown head is quickly disappering. Aroma has cocoa, coffee, strong vanilla, hint of alcohol. Quite overhjelming. Taste has sweet chocolate, vanilla, strong sweetness. Full bodied, not stickyness. Sweet Chistmas chocolate. Not natural. Dessert beer for Christmas, but nothng more.

Robi wrazenie i wygladem i zapachem i napewno mistrowsko ukrytym mocnym alkoholem. Wyglad to bardzo bardzo ciemna brazowa piana srednia i srednio trwala, geste i czarne, bez osadu. Zapach waniliowych lodow, w smaku wanilia wszech obecna, desery czekoladowe, trufle, nigdaly, piernik z masa marcepanowa i znow migdaly i wanilia. Bardzo smaczne i tresciwe piwo.

Bottle thanks to Nikos!! Pours inky black, small brown head, dissipates to a ring with good lacing. Aroma is cinnamon and interesting spices, nutmeg, roasted malt, dark cocoa. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, interestingly spiced, lots of cocoa. Strong bitterness and some ABV heat as well. Full body. This is really interesting. What the hell is a tonka bean?
