Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy dark amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is sweet malt, toffee caramel, citrus fruit, alcohol. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a rich woody resin hop bitter, citrus, alcohol palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

330mL can, pours an opaque deep dark amber red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of chewy caramel malts upfront and resinous hops. Flavour is likewise very chewy and malt-heavy, with lots of bready caramel and light resinous hops. Not the most harmonious, but it's decent.

From a 330ml can on 14/10/2015. Pours a cloudy dark golden with a small head. Has a lovely deep, fruity, hoppy nose, with lots of tropical notes and some light caramel. Take a sip and there’s more caramel, which is quickly overtaken by bucket loads of sweet fruit (peach, apricot, mango), some spicy rye like notes, and masses of resiny, mouth coating hops. The palate if thick and the carbonation soft. This is a super smooth, very flavoursome DIPA, with great mouth feel, and is very hard to fault. Mornington is a consistently good brewer and this is one of their very best.

Pours dark amber with a small, lasting head.Nose shows tropical fruit, mango, lychee, floral notes and a lot of caramel and toasty malt.Similar flavours but not so much fruit. Lots of caramel and toasty malt along with piny hops and a hint of soft fruit.Too much carbonation.

Well, isn’t this just a whole lot of hoppy goodness? I’m yet to taste a Mornington Peninsula Brewery beer I didn’t want to fill the boot with, and this is no exception. There’s not much hint on the nose, which is predominantly pine and caramel with a floral overtone that I couldn’t quite place, of what’s to come. The first mouthful is quite the outrageous hop-led assault: there’s some caramel which quickly gives way to grapefruit and pine which rip down the middle of the tongue and give a long, lingering finish. One for the diehard IPA fans.

Tap. Murky dark amber with a coat of light beige head that disappears very quickly. Aroma of nectarines, caramel, kumquats, grapefruit, pine. Creamy mouthfeel. Hides its alcohol pretty well. Taste has candy sweetness before plenty of bitterness that’s mingled with earth, citrus, flowers, pine and a little windex. At first it just seemed like a wallop of bitterness but the mixture of hop flavours gradually came out. Lingering fruity bitter finish. Appearance aside, a very convincing local US-style hop riot. [3.3]Bottle. Cloudy dark amber with a large light beige head that lasts quite well. Aroma as before with some pepper too. Taste as before - hop aromatics struggle to emerge from the big almost icing sugary sweetness and very strong bitterness. This time felt quite heavy for the ABV. Good, but not really my sort of thing.
