Cask at Prince of Wales, Birmingham. Dark ruby/near black with small smooth off white top. It has a roasted malt, coffee, light chocolate, ear medium bodied. Not overly complex but certainly tasty.

Cask @ The Anvil, Shifnal. Very dark with a creamy-frothy head. Easy, somewhat ordinary stout with a mix of bushy-floral and roasted notes, neither of which dominates.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford (not on RB yet) Pours an extremely dark reddish brown with a generous cream head. A nice aroma of vanilla with hints of woodsmoke. Texture is creamy, with taste of dark fruits, liquorice and a little milky coffee. The finish is fruity, but in a gentle way. Nice enough, but doesn’t really have much “stout” characteristic.

Nice round beer. Clean and full, velvety, mild and dark but balanced. On cask, real ale at the wellington birmingham
