First Stop on the Pro Season Calendar is our Belgian IPA, Spartacus, celebrating the Gladiators of the pave as they go to battle in the early spring classic’s over the cobbles of Flanders, Roubaix and Liege. This is where the pro season really kick’s off and the one day specialists come to the fore, with spectators and beer tents dotted around the course these races have there own cult following and electric atmosphere, you just have to wonder who’s using two engines?
A mixture of Belgian specialty malts, a bike bag full of Amarillo hops and a classic Belgian yeast give this beer a lovely glowing amber color, with big juicy orange flavors and a touch of spice from the yeast.

440ml can at the Wrekin Inn, Wellington Shropshire; 10th February 2023. Mini haze to the golden pour, smooth white crown. Caramel sweetness tempered by some bittering hop action, liked it.

Rocky white head left a big froth on a hazy, walnut coloured, light effervescent body. Yeasty, spicy, stone fruit aroma. Medium to full body. Average carbonation. clean on the finish. Hoppy, bitter, stone fruit, tangy tastes - just missing more the Belgian Yeast! Tremendous attempt at a Belgium IPA.

Bottle from Connollys Wines, Solihull. Poured a murky medium amber with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is Belgian yeast, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry yeast bitter, light mellow malt, light hop, light fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Cask at the Wellington; clear amber pour with a bubbly off white head, aroma has sweet toffee and tropical hope, taste has tangerine, a hint of pine, sticky toffee, not much Belgian yeast action.
