For you big stout lovers you will be familiar with their My Continuous Improvement series, so were we, so that was a good place to start.
We took key elements of the MCI beers and delicately weaved it into our own stout making approach. Post fermentation we hit the beer with a Cacaodemon level of cacao nibs courtesy of our buds @tablechocolate, a load of Madagascan vanilla and, new to both of us, Pandan!

Can at home, 25th October 2025. Pours black and thick. Aroma is chocolate and rich. Taste is chocolate, caramel, cocoa, very sweet. Decent beer, but overly sweet for me

A black beer, no head. Aroma of mid sweet strong dark malt, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Taste of sweet chocolate, vanilla, brownies, sugar.

Can from Hop Shop Aberdeen. Dark brown body with a thin than head that fades. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, nuts and vanilla. Flavour of caramel, peppery spice and dark chocolate. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz.

Can from Hops at Home. Pours black with the thinnest tan head. Strong chocolate aromas, some vanilla. Taste adds toffee. Sweet and warming finish.

440ml can. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, rapidly diminishing and completely fading, dark brown head, immensely viscous pour. Roasty, chocolately, dark and caramel malty aroma, notes of chocolate cake, chocolate cookies, dark chocolate, vanilla, couverture, some cocoa, caramel, whiffs of Kahlua. Taste is roasty and chocolately, dark malty and slightly caramel malty, mildly spicy, notes of chocolate cake, chocolate cookies, lots of vanilla, some caramel, couverture, cocoa, a touch of Kahlua, fruity-alcoholic overtones with a touch of cherry; minimally warming, alcoholic finish.
Viscous texture, smooth and soft, silky, slightly cloying palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation.
Very condensed, but not inconceivably intense, nice subtle fruitiness, rather complex vanilla flavours - wicked.

Black topped with a fast collapsing tan head.
Nose is fruit esters, chocolate, molasses, spice, mellow roast, light sour whisper.
Taste comprises chocolate, brown sugar melt, light spice balance, booze, toffee fudge.
Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, semi drying close with a rising balanced boost.
Fun pastry sipper.

440ml can. Pours jet black with no head. Aroma is grainy milk chocolate, alcohol and vanilla. Taste has chocolate cake and vanilla throughout with a boozy finish.
