Part of our Signature series, this is a generously hopped robust Black IPA chock full of flavour. A chunky malt grist provides the backbone for the hops to shine. Expect a resolute upfront bitterness that is countered by a tropical fruit hop kick.

Cask at The Hop, Leeds, Friday 13th November 2015. Pours dark brown a bit chestnut brown in fact. Good fruity beer, much easier to drink than the 6%+ abv might suggest. Nice beer, not as good as the Ratman and Robin though. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Gravity dispense at the Mulberry Tree, Twickenham, 06/11/15. Dark mahogany brown with a decent beige covering of bubbles. Nose is light charr, liquorice, toffee, earthy hop, spice, jammy red berry. Taste comprises treacle toffee, liquorice, light spice, charr, earthy, tropical fruit licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough CDA.

Cask at the Jolly Crispin. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is grassy hop, light oatmeal malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a rich grassy hop, malt, light smoke palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Draft at Jolly Crispin. Very dark maroon color, big beige ice cream cone head, the first time I’ve seen that in England. Aroma of pine and burnt espresso. Taste has bitter pine resin and coffee. Delicious.

Cask at the Jolly Crispin; dark black pour with a creamy light tan head, aroma has pine and dark chocolate, taste has pine, roast and chocolate.
