The Bourbon Maple Geuze is a strong gueuze according to our standards. Also one with a nice story. An ex bourbon barrel moved from the US to Canada where maple syrup was added 3 times. From Canada the barrel moved to Belgium where it was filled with a blend of different lambics. After the barrel ageing this lambic was blended for bottling and of course a complex gueuze (of 9.3% ABV) came out and this by both the barrel ageing, on a unique barrel, and by the use of older lambics of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 years from different lambic breweries from the Zenne valley.

Pours unclear blonde. Big white head, fades rather fast. Scent is raw, stables, funky brett, mild wood. Doenst really show the age or maple (yet). Taste is full, intense on the woody notes, medium tartness, citrus. Brett. Maple not very recognizable, alcohol very hidden. High (too high) carbo. More than decent as a geuze, but I perhaps expected a bit more maple (and less carbo) + more 'old lambic' character

750mL bottle at the International Geuze & Kriek festival. Pours murky blonde with a white head. Maple, old wood on the nose. Flavour has great old wood and maple sugar, moderate tartness. This works very well.

750mL bottle at International Geuze & Kriek Festival 2025, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma has gentle maple if I strain, with subtle funk, and a touch of leather. Flavour has huge bourbon notes, gentle maple, alcohol, and funk. This shouldn’t work but it sure does. A massive, boozy, funky, bourbony gueuze. Excellent.
