Inspired by the mysterious legend of big black cats that roam the Victorian bush, this beer is an India Black Ale. Like an India Pale Ale, Black Panther IBA is a full bodied beer that’s rich in hop bitterness. A generous addition of North American hops both in the boil and in the fermenter impart a strong citrus aroma. Caramelised black malt imparts a subtle burnt flavour to this rare beer. Savour now.

Dark brown color. Sweet molasses, cotton candy and cocoa exude from the nose. The mouth is medium body and a bit sweeter than typical IBAs. The beer is really about the malt character and it shines with tons of cocoa with some roastiness, joined with cotton candy. Not such a bitter finish. Malty sweet, but highly enjoyable from a guy who likes hoppy IBAs.

Tap at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frotjy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is malt, light grass hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a grass hop bitter, light spice palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Draught as a pot size at The Scratch, Brisbane. On July 21, 2013.Black color, tan head. Sweet, hoppy, bitter taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Bitter, roasted aftertaste. Sweet, malty, roasted, hoppy scent.

Pours black with a large head.Nose shows cocoa, passionfruit, grapefruit, caramel, roasted malt and sweet dark chocolate.Very aggressively roasty flavours, lots of cocoa and espresso. Also notable is some grapefruit and piney characters. Finishes with a powerful roasty and hoppy bitterness. Almost harsh.Carbonation is a bit full-on.

Bottle. Almost black with an inch of light tan head. Citrus and singed caramel aroma with some pine and chocolate. Sweet and first with chocolate and licorice, grapefruity bitterness. Silky mouthfeel with light roasted flavours lurking underneath fruity hops. Good.
