Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles for a head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts bring a distinct dark chocolate streak.Little roasty bitterness. Estery sweetness and pruney fruits. Medium floral bitterness. Light dry finish. Chocolatey linger. A little light on the hops.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Bristol Beer Factory’s Factoberfest, September 2014. Near black with a slight, tan, head. Some citrus hops, liquorice, hint of chocolate and dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is malt, burnt toffee, light caramel. The flavour is strong bitter with a smooth rich malt liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A superb ale. Lots going on.
