Translated as “ignite” or “spark,” this German inspired specialty smoked dark lager uses Alder smoked malt from Blue Ox Malthouse in Lisbon Falls, Maine. An intoxicating campfire aroma melds with cocoa and roasted coffee beans before finishing crisp and clean with a kiss of noble hops.

Can at home late night. Should’ve saved until another day since fell asleep mid drink. Oh well. Dark pour and aromas of smoke and caramel. Tastes ashy, smoky cured meat, caramel, malt, some bread crust and chocolate. Smooth

Brewery draught, 5/21/25.
Clear, ashen, dark maple. Small, dark beige head.
Smokey big firewood and burnt twigs. Rich but crusty malts with brown bread and big toast. Clean and so much delicious woodsmoke. Damp and thick.
Smokey, rich, malty, with crusty bread and damp campfire. Very ashy. Malty, not exceedingly so, and yet the smoke and burnt twigs somehow seem more or less balanced.

6 oz draft. Aroma of smoked malt and cured meats. Flavor follows with the addition of roasted coffee and old wood. The smoke isn’t over the top. Medium plus in body. Quaffable without a doubt.

Pours dark mahogany-tinged cola into a willi. Mocha head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Caramel and bacon aromas. Crisp with sweet chocolate-covered bacon, smoked meat and caramel front to back. Lasting, earthy smoke finish.
