Nelson Sauvin hops are highly regarded for their wine & tropical fruit characters. We’ve used Centennial hops to freshen up the aroma & add some citrus to the mix.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Viktoriagade, 8.5% ABV
Muddy orange-light amber color with creamy persistent head. Nice fresh fruity hops in the aroma, tropical and pungent, typical Nelson Sauvin but also a bit of feety yeast. A bit too much carbonation, with negative impact on the mouthfeel; the malt profile is lean, but the earthy/manure touch should be avoided; spicy: strong bitterness, according to expectations, with some orangey resins in the long final.
Good, but unclean, and unexciting; in 2014 one would expect some evolution.

Nose is caramel malt, floral hops, bitter citric rind, orange pith, candied fruit peel. Taste comprises orange pith, bitter tropicals, grapefruit, straw, tangy citrics, hop bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close laced with hop bitterness. Solid enough DIPA but a little too restrained to be a great.

Tap at mikkeller viktoriagade cloudy yellow smooth white head. Fruity, sweet malty bitter hoppy Roma. Flavor is extremely bitter hoppy ,malts, fruity notes. Bitter flavor is like grapefruit peel, and grapefruit juice not sweetened. Malts balance some. Quite brutal but refreshing if you are in for some bitter grapefruitness.

Draught @ The Rover. Pours very hazy brownish amber with a frothy reddish offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving thick sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is very fruity and tiny herbal with peaches, mango, pineapple, passionfruit, papaya, cat piss, bread. alcohol, grass, pine needles, grape juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice, winegums and tropical fruit hard candy. Taste is bitter, malty and fruity with bread, caramel, alcohol, overripe tropical fruits, grapefruit juice, grape juice, grass, pine, winegums, resinous wood and tropical fruit hard candy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny sticky, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter, malty and fruity with bread, caramel, alcohol, pine, grass, tropical fruit hard candy, grapefruit rinds and lemon zest. Smells nice but taste is kind of a mess composed of boozy bread and overripe tropical fruits. I’m not a brewer but I’ve had several very pale and crisp Nelson single hop beers and I suspect it’s the malt profile that acts up in this brew. I prefer something like this very pale, crisp and dry.
