Clear chestnut brown with a creamy off-white head and fruit malt and a touch of spice on the nose. Light to medium bodied with berry fruits, earthy hops and rich malt all nicely combined. Has a dry and slightly bitter finish with a spicy edge

Cask at Red Cow, Nantwich (not listed in RateBeer) – at 4.4%. Pours a deep copper with minimal off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts and ginger in the aroma plus a hint of parkin. In the mouth it is the sweetness which claims immediate attention (though there is a little underlying bitterness too). Texture fluctuates between creamy and watery. Flavour is mainly malts and berry fruits, plus hints of spices and autumn fruits. Finish is fruity and slightly sharp. This is reasonable – but a bit bland.

Part of my 2013 backlog, and tasted at the Victoria Lincoln. Amber colour with almost no head. Aroma has the berries fruit youd expect. The taste does to, but not overpowering.

Cask at the Ericht Ale House, Blairgowrie. Clear reddish brown with a decent white head. Aromas of artificial berry, not much else. Tastes a bit thin, not enough maltiness. More berries. Thin finish. OK.

Cask at The Anchor, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear dark amber with a thin broken white head and some broken lace. The aroma is malt and red berry fruit. The flavour is light bitter light sweet with a watery fruit hop palate and a short bitter finish. Perfect for Christmas.
