In July of last year, we racked one of our experimental foedre beers to another foedre which was holding the spent cherries from a Cerasus blend. The foedre beer was a Brettanomyces Lager which first was brewed for the original Sunsets and is now used as a blender in our higher end releases. For the cherry additions, we used 600 pounds of Michigan Montmorency and 600 pounds of Michigan Balaton which had already experienced a primary use in Cerasus. Unfortunately, that blend of Cerasus never carbonated in the bottle, so we never released it, but fortunately we created this beautiful Saison for you to enjoy!
Introducing La Petite Kriek, our first cherry Saison since Kriek du Fermier! Delicate, yet robust and surprising with subtle cinnamon notes from the Balaton Cherries and big, juicy qualities from the Montmorency Cherries. We hope you enjoy this new addition to our Saison lineup!

750 ml bottled purchased and shared by my friend Chris at Oak and Steel in Kansas, Missouri. The pour is a clear amber, reddish with a small off white head. The aroma is funk and barnyard, oak wood and really engaging cherry fruit. The taste is big bright tart cherry and lacto sourness, followed closely by the wood, finishing with musty Brett character. All flavors are really well integrated. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft natural carbonation and a lingering cherry tart, earthy finish. Tasty stuff, thanks for this one, Chris.
