(Draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 16 Aug 2025) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, sweet espresso and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, toffee, caramel and a mild roasty bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, sweet. On the sweet side, but really rich and tasty. Very nice.

Tap at Billies. Black. Massive vanilla, molasses, pancake syrup, soft oxidized malts. Massive sweet. Less bitter. Thick full bodied.

Vollmundiger, cremig malziger Start. Vanille, vielleicht Tonka, erhöhte Viskosität, Kakao. Überraschend schnell fallen die Aromen ab, würzig, nett. 12/9/10/10//10

Bottle at home. Opaque dark black color, small dark brown colored head. Aroma is (Dutch) "hopjesvla", yuk, hate it, some vanilla and light spices. Flavor is malts, sweetness, vanilla, again spices and "hopjesvla". Way too sweet and too much spices for me. Totally not my beer.

Schenkt als olie, pikzwart en moddervet, zonder schuim. Sterke vanille geur, zoet, (Haagse) hopjes. In de mond is er ook een fruitig zuurtje. Smaak is behoorlijk zoet, vanille. Volle body, bijna stroperig. Zachte koolzuurprikkeling. Toch nog een vaag geroosterd bittertje in de afdronk.

Tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 17th July 2025. Pours black, Loads of vanilla and a bit too sweet, I’d try again in the evening
