A bit bigger than I like my saisons, with the booze and sweetness overpowering the delicate grassy and herbal notes that define the style. That being said, 1976 is still an enjoyable beer, deep veins of rum-soaked bananas and cloves meshing with peppery alcohol and a floral, soapy bitterness on the finish. A slight citric tartness lies way down beneath everything, but mostly its a farmhouse on steroids, a jolly mess of a beer.

Bottle at RateBeer Awards. Pours a hazy orange gold with medium frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is floral, yeast. brett. Medium body, spice, yeast, fruity, light dry finish, good.

Excellent quality traditional Belgian saison. Yeast forward as it should be, fruity not as much funk as I would like but still good. A touch too sweet but again it’s a little bit splitting hairs cuz this is a good beer.

750ml bottle pours out a hazy golden straw color topped with a white head. Nose is yeast bread notes some Brett. Taste is more of the nice malts spice bread and brett.
